Tropical Paradise at Ka’ana Boutique Resort

We made it to Ka’ana Boutique Resort in San Ignacio after a 3 hour drive from Naia Resort and Spa in Placencia. Located in the Cayo District in Western Belize and a few hours drive to Guatemala border, San Ignacio is a tropical haven for adventure lovers. Although it was a bit difficult to locate the resort in the town of San Ignacio, once we drove into the resort, I was immediately teleported to paradise.

The welcome drink, famously called Ka’ana Ginger Lime Drink, was so refreshing I felt some sense of calm and chill as I drank it.  One thing stood out about Ka’ana that I really really loved – the personalized service experience was impeccable. The staff were super friendly – Mark who handled our reservations was the absolute best. Even though the reservation was last minute, everything was well organized.

Wine Cellar

After a few hours of settling into our room, we were given a personalized tour of the resort, a private wine tasting session which included the a quick history of Belize, guide on resort facilities and activities, and the highlight of the session was the Belizean nance infused liquor with sparkling wine. It tasted so good.

Doors never get old

The resort has a lot of on site activities such as local dish cooking class – where you learn how to cook Mayan dishes, destination cocktails – where you make cocktails using locally grown ingredients at the resort, movie night under the stars and so much more. All the activities at the resort are curated for each guest based on occupancy at the resort.  My favorite is the yoga class that happens every Tuesday and Fridays from 7am – 8am.

Our Garden Tour Guide

Exploring the Organic Garden

One beautiful thing about Ka’ana is that the food and drinks are prepared from spices, vegetables and fruits grown at the resort’s organic garden. I really enjoyed the tour of the garden, it felt as though I was outside the resort. Our guide was very passionate about the garden. You can tell he really loves working at the garden. He gave us great tips on how to make some local drinks with the spices and vegetables grown at the resort.

I was very impressed at the personalized continental breakfast menu and we had the option of having it served in bed. We definitely opted out for that option. The resort manager ensures that one your first night at the resort, you get your breakfast delivered to you in bed so you can rest in. How awesome is that!!. Plus you also get a special gift item every night with your turndown service. The breakfast option at Ka’ana was really nice. I enjoyed every bit of it.

Outdoor Sitting Area

We stayed in the Balam Suite Room, the room had this rustic, vintage yet luxury feel with cute decorative pieces from all over the world. Each suite is enclosed with its own outdoor and indoor sitting area. I really like that the room had a personalized touch for travelers, ranging from the classic french travel books and luxury travel guides to the personalized daily activities map and antique chest with in-room snacks. The patio overlooking the resort from the room was perfect for chilling, reading and eating.

We spent our entire 3 days at the resort; enjoying drinks at the rooftop restaurant and bar, participating in the onsite resort activities, lounging at the pool area and relaxing indoors in our private patio.

One word best describes my Ka’ana experience – personalized luxury service. I would totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a luxury experience in San Ignacio. It was the perfect place to spend our last days in Belize.
