3 Days in Lagos

Are you visiting Lagos for a few days, or you live in Lagos and are looking to make plans for the weekend? No itinerary can capture the numerous places to see and things to do in 3 short days. In any case, we’ve put together a carefully selected itinerary to suit anyone looking to explore Lagos in 3 days.

Day 1: Explore town like a local.

Visit the historic district of Lagos Island. This area of Lagos houses popular sites like Freedom Park (Brooke Str., Lagos Island), and the famous cathedral. It is a great place to start in exploring the history of the city. Also, with the hustle and bustle of Lagos Island, you get a feel of what a typical day is like in the life of a Lagosian. Visit Lagos Island downtown, explore the corner markets, and learn the art of bargaining while trying to buy some local artifacts.

In the evening, check out the New Afrika Shrine (1 NERDC Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja), home to Fela Anikulapo Kuti, for some awesome live Afrobeat music and drinks!

Day 2: Immerse yourself in local culture.

To experience the art and culture of Lagos, take a trip to either Bogobiri (9 Maitama Sule Str., Ikoyi) or Terra Kulture (1376 Tiamiyu Savage Str., V/I). A great way to spend your afternoon or evening, Bogobiri has a nice cultural ambience plus free wifi to get some work done during the day or a nice evening hang out. You can listen to some of the very talented poets and artists and soak in some live music. At Terra Kulture, you can spend your day immersing yourself in the Nigerian culture, food and arts or simply read a book while enjoying the ambience. Perfect place to hang out during the day.

To try some local delicacies, grab lunch or dinner at Yellow Chili (27 Oju Olobun Cl., V/I) and enjoy the delicious Seafood Okro with Semovita or pounded yam.

Day 3: Beach Day.

Going to the beach in Lagos is always a good idea – it is a great way to unwind from the crazy hectic Lagos traffic and hustle. Pack a food and drink basket, gather a few friends and spend your day on a private beach (rent a beach house for a day at Ilashe Beach, Tarkwa Bay Beach, or visit the famous Pop Beach Club) or a public beach (Bar Beach, Elegushi Beach) and simply relax.
