Two cities in 72hours

Three months later and I already became an addict. I caught the bug and overdosed on the travel drug!!!  Between my trip to Costa Rica and my first solo trip to Europe, I traveled to 5 places: Cancun, San Juan, PR (2nd trip), St. Thomas, New Orleans, and Toronto (Caribana Festival). This was my first time traveling to Mexico and St. Thomas, again I loved every part of both trips!!  Each had its own uniqueness and cultural experience. I love the Caribbean: the beaches, the food, the people, the culture, and of course the weather. I’m only going to feature my trip to Cancun, Mexico and St Thomas, VI in this post.

Where I visited:

Cancun:
I traveled to Cancun with my very good friend, we stayed at the Westin Lagunamar. Though I really liked the resort and our room, it’s not a place for young adults who want to party it up in Cancun. The Westin is good for couples, who want a quiet time and for families. If you want a peaceful resort, the Westin is for you. If you want to party it up, maybe try the Marriott.

I loved Cancun; the deep blue with shades of light blue ocean, great spicy and tasty food, the culture, the night life (Coco Bongo – a must visit), and the people (everyone was friendly). I sure can’t balance a bottle on my head, but those dancers did a great job entertaining us. Watching the sunrise after dancing all night was definitely another highlight of my trip.  During my stay in Cancun, we visited the beautiful island of Isla Mujeres. We went snorkeling, then rented a golf car for the day, and drove around the Island. Driving the golf car was pretty cool and fun.

One thing about Mexico you may need to know is you have to learn how to negotiate. Make sure you don’t accept the first price you are given, bargain bargain bargain.

Of course, I didn’t leave Cancun without visiting one of the seven wonders of the world. The famous Chichen Itza (one wonder now, 6 more to go)

My trip to St. Thomas was so peaceful, I stayed in this boutique hotel I found on Trip Advisor called, Mafolie. The view from where I stayed was amazing. On a beautiful Saturday, I wandered into the peaceful beach of Magen’s Bay where I spent my day getting a tan and making new friends.  This was a nice and quick one day getaway from the hustle and bustle of NYC.

  • I’m ecstatic about your blog…I love to travel, visit new places, learn new languages, and explore new cultures. Like you, it has typically been…not enough time/ never an appropriate time, not enough money…and the list goes on. Now…I am hoping to catch the same bug…and start living my dreams….one city of the world at a time.

So quick question…are some of these wknd trips…or where do you find the time amidst your work schedule?

    • Seems like we have a very similar story. Some of my trips are weekend trips. Yes, my work schedule can get really hectic. It’s always hard to travel when you have a busy work schedule, so i decided to start making some weekend trips or go on a long weekend.
